Young Russian director shoots film starring Hollywood's big shot Uma Thurman
The eight and a half minutes movie ‘The Gift’ with Russian language subtitles is already on the Internet in a free access for all those wishing to watch it
MOSCOW, July 29./ITAR-TASS/. Talented young Russian film director Ivan Petukhov made a short movie with Hollywood’s star Uma Thurman starring in the lead role, a spokesperson for the Youth Center of the Russian Union of Cinematographists said on Tuesday.
The eight and a half minutes movie ‘The Gift’ with Russian language subtitles is already on the Internet in a free access for all those wishing to watch it, the spokesperson added.
“The main character of the film is Miss Anderson, who works in a shopping mall wrapping gifts, while real life passes by,” the spokesperson said.
The press service of the youth center of Russian filmmakers cited Petukhov as saying about his work with Thurman that “It was a brilliant possibility to turn ideas into reality.”
“This is a particular moment, when Uma Thurman reads your script and exclaims ‘Oh, I like this part!’” he said. “She is a great actress and the film with her is outstanding.”
Petukhov seized a chance of inviting the star of such blockbusters as ‘Kill Bill’ and ‘Pulp Fiction’ after becoming one of three winners of the Jameson First Shot short film competition for young filmmakers. The winners of the competition were decided by a jury of Hollywood’s heavyweights, who included Thurman herself and Kevin Spacey.
