Air temperature drops below zero in Russia’s Perm Territory

The abnormally cold weather in the Perm Territory has been brought by air masses from Central Arctic

PERM, July 14. /ITAR-TASS/. Abnormally cold weather has set in in the Perm Territory in eastern European Russia, with air temperatures dropping to 3.5 degrees Celsius below zero.

“The cold weather in the Perm Territory has been brought by air masses from Central Arctic,” Andrei Shikhiv, the head of the Perm center of geoinformation systems, told ITAR-TASS on Monday. “On July 10, the daily temperature was below the climatic norm by 5-6 degrees. Overnight to July 12, when the cyclone center shifted to the Perm Territory, air temperatures dropped to 3.5 degrees below zero. It is abnormal for mid-July.”

According to weather forecasts, temperatures will start raising from Monday. Nonetheless, the first half of July is expected to be colder than usual by three degrees. According to Shikhov, negative air temperature abnormality has been in place in the Perm Territory for about 45 days. The latest such abnormality was registered here in 2005.
