YAKUTSK, July 11. /ITAR-TASS/. Eleven settlements where more than 16 thousand people live are under a threat of flood over a water rise on Tatta River in Russian Far East’s Yakutia. As many as 188 people and 45 pieces of machinery are involved in efforts to avert the natural disaster, regional emergency situation department told ITAR-TASS on Friday.

Eighteen temporary evacuation centres which can accommodate more than 4.5 thousand people were set up in Churapcha and Tatta districts, the emergencies department noted.

Several groups of rescuers and a governmental committee are working in the emergency situation area. Local residents are warned about a flood threat. Cattle were brought to hills. There are no problems with drinking water and food products yet. Electric power supplies are not disrupted.

Local roads are washed out. Emergency situation services recommend drivers to refrain from trips in this direction. Rescuers are creating an artificial canal across a local federal highway for an additional outflow.

River banks are being reinforced.

Heavy rain caused water growth on rivers and lakes in Tatta and Churapcha districts near the dam lake. The dam banks were washed out on Friday morning, so, several settlements turned out to be under a flood threat.
