Earthquake hits northeast Japan, causing no tsunami threat

TOKYO, July 10. /ITAR-TASS/. An earthquake measuring 4.8 points on the Richter scale shocked Japan’s north-east on Thursday, the national meteorological agency said.

The quake epicenter was registered in the Ibaraki prefecture, at a depth of ten kilometers. There were no immediate reports about casualties or damage. There were no tsunami threats as well.

The underground quakes were felt in nine prefectures of Japan’s main island of Honshu, including the Fukushima prefecture. According to Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO), the earthquake has caused no emergencies at the Fukushima NPP-1.
