BEIJING, July 02. /ITAR-TASS/. The Kremlin Museums and the Beijing National Museum will exchange exhibitions in 2016-2017. Moscow Kremlin Museum Director-General Yelena Gagarina said this on Wednesday, July 1.

She has arrived in Beijing for talks with Chinese colleagues on the development of cooperation. “We held talks today with the Beijing National Museum on how to organize exhibition projects both in the Kremlin and here. We agreed that an exhibition will be held in China in 2016 and most likely in late 2016. An exhibition in the Kremlin from this museum will take place in 2017. We will now think about the topics that may be of interest to people in both Moscow and Beijing, and we will do it,” she said.

On Thursday, Gagarina is to hold negotiations with the Palace Museum. “We are planning to sign a memorandum on cooperation and exchange. We know this museum very well because we did a joint exhibition project with it several years ago,” she said.

After talks in Beijing, Gagarina will travel on to Shanghai. “We had a very successful Faberge exhibition in Shanghai and Hong Kong last year, which was attended by 560,000 people in Shanghai alone and was rated by Art Newspaper among the world’s top ten exhibitions. And we want to continue our cooperation with the Shanghai Museum and will be going there for talks,” she said.

On Wednesday afternoon, Gagarina visited the Russian Cultural Centre in Beijing and laid flowers at the monument to her father, the planet’s first cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin.
