The flight on the Russian spacecraft Soyuz and a 10-day stay at the ISS agreed a year ago will cost Brightman, who wants thus to become the first professional singer to perform in space, $52 million

MOSCOW, June 11. /ITAR-TASS/. British soprano singer Sarah Brightman will arrive in the Star City space training facility in Moscow Region in autumn to prepare for a flight to the international Space Station (ISS) planned for 2015. Yuri Lonchakov, head of the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center, confirmed this to ITAR-TASS on Wednesday.

The singer would come in September or October and had already passed some medical examination and tests, he added.

According to the Space Adventures company arranging private spaceflights on agreement with the Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos), the flight on the Russian spacecraft Soyuz and a 10-day stay at the ISS agreed a year ago will cost Brightman, who wants thus to become the first professional singer to perform in space, $52 million.

The singer can also become the eighth space tourist to the ISS continuing the row of non-professional astronauts in space started in 2001 by the US billionaire Dennis Tito.

Along with Brightman, the crew of ISS-45/46 will assemble the Russian cosmonaut Sergey Volkov and the European Space Agency (EAS) astronaut Andreas Mogensen.

The President of the RSC Energia, the company in charge of manned spaceflight programs, Vitaly Lopota, said in May that few were now eager to go to space as a tourist because of the exorbitant price for such a trip - around $45-50 million.

When the project started 13 years ago, the space journey cost $20 million. Since then, the costly affair has been undertaken by six US citizens, one Canadian and one South African. Not grabbing things is the main condition of staying at the ISS.
