1,945 air balloons to be released in Moscow skies on Victory Day

The festive action will be named “At six hours in the evening after the war”

MOSCOW, April 23. /ITAR-TASS/. Muscovites will celebrate a forthcoming Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 on May 9 with a picturesque release of air balloons in the evening skies. The number of air balloons will be symbolic - 1,945. Air balloons will be set loose simultaneously from different venues in the city at right 6pm on May 9, the Moscow mayor’s office said.

The festive action will be named “At six hours in the evening after the war.” After that residents and guests of the Russian capital will commemorate those perished in the Great Patriotic War with a minute of silence. An action named “Candle of Memory” will be also held on this day when candles will be lit up in commemoration of fascism victims.

Cold fireworks will be launched on all city squares, meetings with veterans and film screenings will be organised. On May 9, the city will be filled with melodies and songs of wartimes.
