MOSCOW, March 25. /ITAR-TASS/. Russian Helicopters will showcase its multipurpose Mi-171A2, Ka-32A11VS and Mi-35M at FIDAE 2014, opening in Chile, says the company’s press service.
The exhibition in Santiago will last until March 30.
“The Ka-32A11VS helicopter with a coaxial rotor system is well known to helicopter operators of the Latin American region,” the press service said on Tuesday. “The European Aviation Safety Agency certified this machine in 2009. This helicopter fulfils different tasks and is successfully used in the fight against natural and technogenic fires. Its firefighting equipment includes over 40 different options. Last summer Ka-32A11VS was actively engaged in fire-fighting operations on Indonesia’s Borneo Island.”
The Mi-171A2 was an advanced-technology version of its Mi-8/17 helicopter that could be widely used in different regions and climate conditions. It was equipped with an upgraded propulsion system, a new rotocraft system, modern avionics and a glass cockpit, the company said.
During business contacts on the sidelines of FIDAE 2014 the company will promote its new helicopter Ka-62. This machine is being designed within the framework of broad international cooperation. The Ka-62 is equipped with modern engines of France’s Turbomeca that meet the toughest environmental and fuel efficiency requirements.
“Latin America is a strategically important market for Russian state-run corporation Rostec, in particular for Russian Helicopters,” the press service cited head of Rostec’s international cooperation department Sergei Goreslavsky as saying. “At present, this region uses over 800 Soviet-era and Russian helicopters and has helicopter maintenance centres. We are interested in promoting to the market not only military, but also civil machines. Of late we have achieved significant success in this direction.”
Russian Helicopters is a subsidiary of the aerospace holding Oboronprom, a member of Rostec. It is one of the world’s leading helicopter makers and Russia’s only helicopter design and production holding. The holding was established in 2007.
