Russian President Vladimir Putin was named politician number one with a big margin

MOSCOW, February 05. /ITAR-TASS/. Winners of World Rankings 2013 survey, which named politician, scientist and cultural personality number one in the world upon results of a poll among news agencies and news media, will be awarded personally, President of the Black Sea Association of National News Agencies, Director General of the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) Maxim Minchev told a news conference in ITAR-TASS news agency here on Wednesday.

Russian President Vladimir Putin was named politician number one with a big margin. Nobel laureate, British physicist Peter Higgs was named scientist number one in the world, winner of the 2013 Nobel Prize in literature, Canadian writer Alice Munro has won the number one’s cultural personality title in the world.

“Our winners are very busy, if we continue to conduct this survey in the future, future winners will be probably busy either,” Minchev said. “But as our poll is international and professional, its laureates can receive awards at the time suitable for them,” he noted.

“The first survey always has some difficulties, as some details are not elaborated. Some hidden pitfalls exist, because there are too many surveys of this sort,” he admitted.

The survey is unprecedented, because 175 ‘news factories’ and news media outlets from 85 countries participated in the opinion poll, ITAR-TASS First Deputy Director General Mikhail Gusman said. “This is what distinguished essentially our survey from other ones,” Gusman noted. “The idea originated in ITAR-TASS consisted in attracting as many our fellow newsmakers as possible from the whole world in the survey,” he added.

In his words, World Rankings 2013 results speak for themselves, because the winners in all three nominations have won with a big margin.
