IZHEVSK, November 26. /ITAR-TASS/. The medical condition of Russian Mikhail Kalashnikov, creator of the legendary AK-47 assault rifle, remains stable in hospital. He is provided with everything necessary, representatives of the clinical and diagnostics center of Udmurtia, a republic in west-central Russia, told Itar-Tass on Tuesday.
“Mikhail Kalashnikov’s state of health is stable. He gets all necessary aid and is provided with advanced medical equipment and medicines,” they said. “Highly skilled doctors of the cardio center monitor his health.”
Kalashnikov, 94, was taken to an intensive therapy ward on November 17. He was diagnosed with gastrointestinal bleeding that was promptly stopped, Udmurtia Health Minister Vldimi Muzlov said.
The designer’s son, Viktor Kalashnikov, said his father was not allowed visitors, but expressed gratitude to all who worried about his health.
