VLADIVOSTOK, November 25. /ITAR-TASS/. The Russian sailing ship Pallada of Far Eastern State Technical Fisheries University, which is on a training voyage over the Sea of Japan (East Sea) and the Yellow Sea, has called at China’s Dalian.

The Pallada sailed off from Russia’s Far Eastern city of Vladivostok 25 days ago with 108 students from naval schools of the Russian Fisheries Agency aboard, the press service of Far Eastern State Technical Fisheries University said on Monday.

The ship will stay in Dalian, the southernmost city of Northeast China, until November 29. The ship’s crew and rector of Far Eastern State Technical Fisheries University Georgy Kim will meet with the Russian ambassador to China, representatives of Russian and Chinese diplomatic corps. Russian students will go on a sightseeing tour of Dalian and meet with Chinese counterparts from naval schools.

On November 10, the Pallada called at South Korea’s port of Inchon, where the Pallada crew and students laid flowers to the monument to Russian sailors from the Koreyets gunboat and the Varyag cruiser who were killed in a battle with a Japanese squadron near the port of Inchon during the Russian-Japanese war of 1904-1905.

The ship is expected to return to its home port of Vladivostok on December 12.

The Pallada is registered with the Guinness Book of Records as the world’s fastest sailing vessel. The ship is capable to develop a speed of more than 18 knots an hour. She boasts victories in international regattas and the 2007-2008 round-the-world voyages. The routes were laid across the sites of discoveries and trips made by Russian sailors in the 19th and 20th centuries.
