More than 60,000 participate in Olympic torch relay in Moscow

About 500 torch bearers are registered

MOSCOW, October 7 (Itar-Tass) - More than 60,000 people participated in the events devoted to the Olympic Flame relay in the Russian capital on Monday, the press service of the Moscow police told Itar-Tass.

“No serious incidents were reported during the first stage of the Olympic Flame relay in Russia. The order was enforced fully at the event,” the press service said.

About 5,000 policemen and servicemen of the interior troops were ensuring security at the event.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin gave the start to the Russian stage of the relay of the Sochi Olympic Flame on Vasilyevsky Spusk at noon on Monday. The Olympic Flame relay will be held in the Russian capital on October 7-9. About 500 torch bearers are registered in Moscow. They will pass 78 kilometres for this period of time. The mobile application is available at the official website of the Sochi Olympics to watch the Olympic Flame relay. The Olympic torch bearers will pass the Olympic torch to each other in the scheduled sequence. Moscow Region will take over the Olympic Flame relay on October 10.
