Police detain 25 Ukrainian radicals suspected of preparing terrorist acts in Russia

A total of 246 persons on the federal wanted list had been detained in border-lying regions

MOSCOW, August 14. /ITAR-TASS/. Police have detained 25 Ukrainians suspected of plotting terrorist acts in Russia, the Interior Ministry said on Thursday.

“Since the beginning of the year we have run checks on more than 3,000 Ukrainians. About 2,000 of them are suspected of extremist activities. The probe will allow us to detain 25 Ukrainian citizens involved with radical nationalist organisations and suspected of plotting terrorist acts,” Yury Valyayev, head of the Interior Ministry’s Main Department for the Protection of Public Order, said.

In addition, Valyayev said a total of 246 persons on the federal wanted list had been detained in border-lying regions.

Police have also confiscated 100 pieces of contraband weaponry and found about 400 stolen cars.
