Russia to send humanitarian aid for Syrian refugees in Lebanon

In Lebanon there are almost 340,000 Syrian refugees, who fled that country since the conflict began in March 2011

MOSCOW, April 2 (Itar-Tass) – Russia’s Emergencies Ministry will send humanitarian aid to Lebanon, where dozens of thousands of refugees from Syria remain, the ministry’s spokeswoman, Irina Rossius, told Itar-Tass on Tuesday.

An Il-76 plane with a 26.7 tonne humanitarian consignment will leave the airfield in Ramenskoye near Moscow on April 3 for Beirut.

The loading of the plane will start later on Tuesday.

In March spokesman for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Adrian Edwards, said in Lebanon there are almost 340,000 Syrian refugees, who fled that country since the conflict began in March 2011.
