UNITED NATIONS, August 17 (Itar-Tass) —— Russia welcomes the appointment of Algerian diplomat Lakhdar Brahimi as the joint representative of the United Nations and the League of Arab States (LAS) on Syria, Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vitaly Churkin said on Friday.
