National investigations remain ongoing

BRUSSELS, November 5. /TASS/. The European Commission is not aware whether airplane false bomb threat incidents in EU countries are interrelated or not and who is behind them, Transport Commissioner Apostolos Tzitzikostas said on X.

"It is too early to draw conclusions on whether the reported incidents are linked. National investigations remain ongoing," he said, adding that such threats "are unacceptable."

"We are closely monitoring the situation and are in contact with the affected Member States and the European Aviation Safety Agency," the Commissioner said. Tzitzikostas did not give any information about the number of such incidents or airlines, whose planes were affected.

Thirteen passenger planes of European airlines made emergency landings during Thursday following reports of a bomb threat on board. According to information collected by TASS, three civilian aircraft landed in Bulgaria: two in Sofia and one in Plovdiv. Two more flights landed in Vienna (Austria), and one each in Brussels (Belgium), at the French military base Evreux-Fauville, in Rome (Italy), and in Bucharest (Romania). The Czech police also received reports of a possible explosive device on board four aircraft bound for Prague.
