Air quality monitoring is ongoing

MOSCOW, October 3. /TASS/. Specialists have completed operations to clear the site following a fire at a chemical plant in Krasnozavodsk, Moscow Region, Acting Head of the Sergiyev Posad urban district Alexey Luzhetsky said.

“Operations to clear the aftermath of the fire at the Krasnozavodsk Chemical Plant have been completed. It is with regret that I report that five bodies were discovered,” he wrote on his Max channel.

Luzhetsky expressed his condolences to the relatives and loved ones of the deceased.

“This is an irreparable loss and a shared grief. During this difficult time, psychological support is being provided to the victims' families. We are doing everything possible to assist and support them,” he added.

In addition, air quality monitoring is ongoing. No levels exceeding permissible limits for hazardous substances have been detected. There is no threat to the population of the town of Krasnozavodsk or the surrounding district, Luzhetsky emphasized.

The fire broke out in the evening of October 1 in one of the production buildings at the Krasnozavodsk Chemical Plant in the Sergiyev Posad urban district of the Moscow Region. The fire covered an area of 1,000 square meters, and the area of the structural collapse spanned 2,000 square meters.
