PARIS, September 26. /TASS/. An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.6 has been recorded northeast of the Loyalty Islands, which belong to New Caledonia — a French overseas territory in the south of the Pacific Ocean, the European·Mediterranean Seismological Centre said.

According to it, the epicenter was located 252 km northeast of the city of Noumea. The focus was at a depth of 6 km.

There is no information about casualties or damage. No tsunami threat was declared.
