MOSCOW, August 12. /TASS/. Air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 502 Ukrainian drones over Russian regions and the Black Sea during the night, the Defense Ministry reported.
Air defense forces shot down several hundred UAVs during a massive attack on Russia’s southern Krasnodar Region. The Ukrainian army targeted civilian facilities and residential buildings. The strikes caused casualties, including children.

Attack scale
- On-duty air defense systems downed a total of 502 Ukrainian fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles over Russian regions, the Defense Ministry said.
- According to the ministry, drones were shot down over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Kaluga, Kursk, Lipetsk, Oryol, and Krasnodar Regions, as well as the Republic of Crimea and the Black Sea.
Attack on the Krasnodar Region
- Air defense forces destroyed several hundred drones while repelling a massive attack on the Krasnodar Region, Governor Veniamin Kondratyev reported on his Max channel.
- Ukrainian forces targeted civilian facilities and residential buildings in the cities of Novorossiysk, Anapa, Gelendzhik and the Temryuksky District.
- Drone debris fell on 21 residential buildings and four enterprises in the Krasnodar Region, the governor said.
- Emergency and special services are working on site.
- A Ukrainian attack damaged a residential building in Anapa and three private houses in Gelendzhik.
- A pedestrian overpass collapsed in Novorossiysk following a drone attack, Mayor Andrey Kravchenko wrote on his Max channel.
- Traffic has been temporarily blocked, with detour routes via Portovaya Street or through the village of Kirillovka.
- All necessary measures are being taken to address the consequences as quickly as possible.
Casualties
- An eight-year-old child was killed in Novorossiysk, Governor Veniamin Kondratyev said.
- The governor instructed Novorossiysk Mayor Andrey Kravchenko to provide all necessary assistance to the family.
- A man died after suffering injuries in a drone attack on the Volna settlement in the Krasnodar Region, Kondratyev reported.
- In Novorossiysk, eight people were wounded in a Ukrainian attack, including one child.
- They have been taken to the hospital for treatment.
- If needed, regional hospitals are prepared to receive them.
- Novorossiysk Mayor Andrey Kravchenko said that falling UAV debris damaged the roof of a residential building in the city’s Vostochny District.
- As a result, a woman and a six-year-old child were wounded.
- Both of them are in serious condition and were promptly taken to a city hospital.
- Drone debris damaged a residential building in Anapa, injuring two people.
- They have received the necessary medical assistance without being hospitalized.
- In Gelendzhik, three private houses were damaged and two people were injured.
- They have been taken to a medical institution.
Response
- In the Primorsky and Vostochny Districts of Novorossiysk, temporary accommodation centers have been set up, Kondratyev reported.
- Around 90 people are currently staying at the temporary accommodation centers.
- In the near future, a municipal commission will assess the damage from the drone attack.
