MOSCOW, August 10. /TASS/. A MiG-29 fighter jet of the Ukrainian Air Force crashed in southern Ukraine’s Odessa Region, the Air Force said on its Telegram channel.

"On the evening of August 10, a MiG-29 of the Air Force has been lost during a combat assignment. The pilot was carrying out a combat mission to destroy aerial targets in the Odessa Region," the statement reads.

According to preliminary information, the plane caught fire and went out of control following an unspecified ‘emergency situation’ during missile launch. The pilot failed to salvage the aircraft.

"The pilot successfully ejected and was hospitalized. Causes of the incident are being established," the Ukrainian military said.

This is the second such incident in Ukraine in less than two weeks. The Ukrainian Air Force said on Telegram on July 29 that Ukraine had lost an F-16 fighter jet after the pilot had to eject because of an undisclosed emergency situation on board.
