OMSK, August 6. /TASS/. A driver struck a group of pedestrians in Omsk, a city in southwestern Russia’s Siberia, injuring seven pedestrians and himself, the regional prosecutor’s office reported.

"Seven pedestrians and the driver of the passenger car, born in 1962, were taken to medical facilities with injuries of varying degrees of severity as a result of the accident," the statement said.

Emergency services told TASS that the driver was initially suspected to have suffered a heart problem.

According to the prosecutor’s office, the driver lost control of the car and hit pedestrians who were standing on a traffic island. The agency added that authorities would decide whether to launch a criminal case after determining the severity of the injuries.
