NEW YORK, June 25. /TASS/. Eighteen people have been saved from under the debris in Caracas’ Chacao municipality after the powerful earthquake, CNN reported.

According to the municipality’s Mayor Gustavo Duque, at least two buildings have been completely ruined. Rescue works involve more than 500 people.

The earthquake struck Venezuela on Wednesday evening, with two series of shocks with magnitudes 7.2 and 7.5 occurring within 40 seconds. Their epicenters were located ten kilometers apart in the state of Yaracuy.
