SYDNEY, February 1. /TASS/. An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.8 struck off the southern coast of Tonga's main island, Tongatapu, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center reported.
According to the agency, the epicenter was located 112 km northeast of the nation's capital, Nuku'alofa, home to more than 24,000 people. The source was at a depth of about 12 km.
No casualties or damage have been reported. No tsunami warning has been issued.
