MOSCOW, January 20. /TASS/. Experts recorded an earthquake of magnitude 5 off the coast of the Kuril Islands of the Sakhalin Region, and residents of Severo-Kurilsk town could feel the seismic event, the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk seismic station said.

"Magnitude: 5.0. They could feel up to 3-4 points in Severo-Kurilsk," it said in a statement.

The epicenter of the earthquake was located 107 km east of Severo-Kurilsk, at a depth of 47 km.
