Two people have been arrested on suspicion of committing the attack

LONDON, November 2. /TASS/. Ten people have been hospitalized following a knife attack on train passengers in England, with nine of them in critical condition, the police said in a statement.

"Ten people have been taken to hospital with nine believed to have suffered life-threatening injuries. One is being treated for non life-threatening injuries. There have been no fatalities," the statement said.

Two people have been arrested on suspicion of committing the attack. According to law enforcement agencies, officers from the police counterterrorism unit are assisting in the investigation.

The Daily Mail, in turn, reported that the attack may have been terrorist-related. According to the newspaper, law enforcement agencies used the PLATO code word in response to reports of a stabbing on a train traveling from Doncaster, a city in the north of England, to London. The code is used by police and emergency services in the UK to indicate an active terrorist attack. The last time this code was used was on October 2, during an attack on a synagogue in Manchester.

According to the article, 30 police officers arrived quickly at the scene. They detained the suspects. A witness told The Times that the incident occurred ten minutes after the train departed from the Peterborough platform, with passengers attempting to hide in the restrooms. It was later reported that, after stopping at the Huntingdon platform, the police neutralized a knife-wielding man with a stun gun.

The train is currently still in Huntingdon. According to footage published by local media, police are investigating the incident. The photo shows passengers' belongings scattered on both sides of the train and being examined by forensic experts. Passengers will continue their journey by bus.
