Russia has sent the largest group of rescuers to Myanmar
MOSCOW, April 1. /TASS/. Two Il-76 planes of the Russian Emergencies Ministry with rescuers on board have arrived in Myanmar to take part in eliminating the aftermath of the earthquake, the ministry's press service told TASS.
"Two planes that left Russia the day before have arrived in the affected region. A total of 264 Russian rescuers are involved in eliminating the consequences of the strongest earthquake in the country," the ministry said.
Russia has sent the largest group of rescuers to Myanmar.
A major earthquake struck Myanmar on March 28. According to various sources, its magnitude ranged from 7.7 to 7.9. It was followed by a second earthquake with a magnitude of 6.4. Thailand was also affected by the disaster, and tremors were felt in China and Vietnam. The earthquake killed more than 2,000 people in Myanmar and damaged many residential and infrastructure buildings. The death toll in Bangkok reached 20.
