MOSCOW, March 30. /TASS/. Russia’s Investigative Committee has established new facts of the Ukrainian army’s crimes in the Sudzha district of the Kursk Region as follows from local residents’ testimony, Investigative Committee Spokeswoman Svetlana Petrenko said on Sunday.

"Investigators of the Russian Investigative Committee have found new facts of crimes committed by Ukrainian militants in the Kursk Region," the spokeswoman said.

The testimony of Sudzha district residents reveals, in particular, that the Ukrainian militants that had invaded the Kursk Region placed military equipment in private residential sectors, deliberately set homes on fire and engaged in marauding in the village of Martynovka in August 2024, she said.

The Investigative Committee has opened a criminal probe into these crimes under part 2, article 205 (‘A Terrorist Act’) and part 3, article 356.1 of Russia’s Criminal Code (‘Marauding’), she said.

The Ukrainian military launched a massive attack on the Kursk Region on August 6, 2024. As Russia’s General Staff reported on March 12, Russian forces have liberated over 86% of the territory occupied by Ukrainian troops in the Kursk Region by now. Residents are being evacuated from the liberated town of Sudzha. In some frontline sectors, Russian forces have entered Ukraine’s Sumy Region.
