Casualty toll from Munich car ramming rises to 36

According to Christian Huber, the police don’t rule out that the number of those injured may grow as some did not seek medical assistance right away

BERLIN, February 14. /TASS/. At least 36 people suffered injuries after a car plowed into demonstrators in the German city of Munich on February 13, Christian Huber, deputy chief of the city’s police, said.

"We currently have information on 36 people injured in the incident," he told a news conference.

According to Huber, the police don’t rule out that the number of those injured may grow as some did not seek medical assistance right away.

Two people, including a child, suffered "the most severe injuries;" eight people were hospitalized with serious injuries and another ten with minor injuries.

The incident took place on Thursday, the driver was detained. The Munich Security Conference, which brings together high-ranking politicians, kicked off in the city on Friday. Huber emphasized that the demonstration, during which the car ramming attack occurred, had not been related to the conference.
