No oil leaks from Chinese vessel that received two hull breaches off Sakhalin
There are 20 crewmembers aboard the ship, all of them are Chinese citizens
MOSCOW, February 9. /TASS/. No oil leaks have been detected from the Chinese An Yang 2 bulk carrier that received two hull breaches after it ran aground near Sakhalin, the maritime border service said.
"Control of the An Yang 2 bulk carrier was lost after it pulled its anchor. The vessel ran ashore outside the waters of the seaport of Nevelsk. According to the ship’s captain, there are two breaches in ballast tanks but no oil leaks have been spotted," it said.
The An Yang 2 bulk carrier ran aground amid a severe storm. There are 20 crewmembers aboard the ship, all of them are Chinese citizens. The have enough food and drinking water and don’t need medical assistance. According to the Russian Sea and River Transport Agency, the ship is loaded with 1,000 tons of coal, 54 tones of fuel oil, and 706 tones of motor oil. An emergency situation was declared in the Nevelsky district following the accident.
