Four found dead at site of passenger plane crash in Kazakhstan
A crisis management center under the leadership of the head of the regional authorities has been set up
ASTANA, December 25. /TASS/. Four people have been found dead at the site of the crash of an Azerbaijan Airlines passenger plane near the city of Aktau.
"An ambulance crew has confirmed the death of four people at the site of the airplane crash. The search for passengers is continuing," the authorities of Kazakhstan’s Mangistau Region have said.
The Mangistau regional multidisciplinary hospital has accommodated 27 survivors; 11 of them are in intensive care in serious condition. Two children were brought to the regional children's hospital, the regional authorities’ press service said.
A crisis management center under the leadership of the head of the regional authorities has been set up. Local hospitals have reserved beds for the injured.
A passenger plane Embraer 190 of the Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL), crashed on Wednesday near the Kazakh city of Aktau en route from Baku to Grozny. According to the latest data, there were 69 people on board (most of them citizens of Azerbaijan) and also Russian, Kazakhstani and Kyrgyz nationals. According to the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan, 32 survived. The Kazakh Emergencies Ministry says 29 are alive.
