Over 100 people involved in extinguishing jet fire at drilling rig in southern Urals
The accident posed no threat to nearby settlements
ORENBURG, December 25. /TASS/. More than 100 people have been involved in the effort to put out a jet fire at a drilling rig in Russia’s Orenburg Region, southern Urals, the regional department of the Russian emergencies ministry said in a statement.
According to a previous report, the gas blowout fire from a drill hole occurred near the settlement of Krasnogorsk on December 23. There were no casualties. The accident posed no threat to nearby settlements.
"In all, 108 people and 30 vehicles and pieces of special equipment have been involved in the effort, including 42 rescuers and 12 pieces of equipment of the Russian emergencies ministry," the statement says.
Earlier, the region’s government said the incident occurred at the Aksyutinskoye oil field, owned by Ruslanoil. The concentration of harmful substances in the air remained within normal levels.
