KAZAN, December 21. /TASS/. Unmanned aerial vehicles attacked residential buildings in three districts in the city of Kazan, the capital of Russia’s Tatarstan Region, on Saturday morning, the mayor’s office said.
A situation room has been set up and the buildings have been evacuated. Tatarstan’s head Rustam Minnikhanov has arrived at the site of the attack.

Drone attack
- According to the Russian Defense Ministry, a drone was destroyed over the Tatarstan Region at 7:50 a.m. Moscow time (4:50 a.m. GMT).
- Residential buildings in the Sovetsky, Kirovsky and Privolzhsky districts of Kazan caught fire after the attack.
Authorities’ response
- Emergency services are working at the site of the attack; municipal services have been put on high alert.
- A situation room has been set up.
- Tatarstan’s head arrived at the site of the attack; he is receiving reports from the situation room.
- Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin handed down instructions to provide temporary accommodation, warm clothing and meals to those evacuated.
