Some 428 people have been evacuated, including 27 children
MOSCOW, April 7. /TASS/. The water level of the Ural River near Russia’s Orenburg has risen by 28 centimeters overnight, flooding 1,784 areas and 1,347 houses, the city hall reported.
"As of 9:00 a.m. local time (4:00 a.m. GMT) on April 7, 1,784 areas, 1,347 houses located in the floodplain of the Ural River are flooded. The situation is worsening. Some 428 people have been evacuated, including 27 children. Six people, including one child, are in the temporary shelter," the statement said.
According to it, in Orenburg the water level of the Ural River increased by 28 centimeters. At the same time, the situation has stabilized near other districts.
The partial collapse of a dam in Orsk, Orenburg Region, occurred in two places on the night of April 6. Another breach took place in the evening of the same day. Water levels have also risen in Orenburg, which is downstream. Authorities have declared a regional-level emergency situation and are urging residents to evacuate.
