MOSCOW, April 6. /TASS/. The dam failure in Orsk happened due to untimely measures taken to maintain the hydraulic structure, the regional prosecutor’s office reported.

"Due to untimely measures taken to maintain the hydraulic structure in proper technical condition, a dam broke on April 5, 2024," the department reported based on the results of an inspection.

The partial collapse of a dam in Orsk, Orenburg region, occurred in two places on Saturday night. The dam protected the city from the waters of the Ural River. By Saturday morning, the water had reached several districts of the city, around 2,400 residential buildings and 3,000 adjacent areas in Orsk were flooded.
