Turkish Coast Guard assists stranded cargo ship in Dardanelles

No navigation problems were reported in the strait due to the bulk carrier’s breakdown

ANKARA, March 25. /TASS/. The Lila Piraeus bulk cargo vessel under the Liberian flag suffered an engine failure en route from Russia to Egypt while passing through the Dardanelles Strait, the Turkish Coast Guard Command said on its page in the X social network.

"The 179-meter Lila Piraeus general cargo ship, which had an engine failure upstream of the Karakova area in the Dardanelles Strait on the way from Russia to Egypt, was towed by our tugboat and a pilot for anchoring in the port of Karanlik," the Command said.

No navigation problems were reported in the strait due to the bulk carrier’s breakdown.
