White House condemns terrorist attack in Crocus City Hall, calling ISIS common enemy
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said that ISIS must be defeated everywhere
WASHINGTON, March 23. /TASS/. The United States strongly condemns the terrorist attack in the Crocus City Hall music venue outside Moscow and emphasizes that the Islamic State terrorist group (ISIS, banned in Russia) is a common enemy, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said in a statement.
"The United States strongly condemns the heinous terrorist attack in Moscow. We extend our deepest condolences to those who lost loved ones and to those who were injured or affected by these unconscionable attacks against innocent civilians. ISIS is a common terrorist enemy that must be defeated everywhere," the statement said.
On the evening of March 22, a terrorist attack targeted the Crocus City Hall music venue in the city of Krasnogorsk near Moscow. The Russian Investigative Committee said that the death toll is 133, but may increase. According to the Russian Health Ministry, 147 people were injured. Eleven suspects involved in the terrorist attack have been apprehended, including four hitmen who were trying to make off heading towards the Ukrainian border. President Vladimir Putin said in a televised address that, according to preliminary information, the Ukrainian side had been preparing ‘a gap’ in the border for the terrorists to cross it. He vowed to identify and hold to account all those behind the attack on the Crocus City Hall and declared March 24 a day of nationwide mourning.
