MOSCOW, December 22. /TASS/. A powerful blast was heard in Ukraine’s capital Kiev early on Friday, near the Ukrainian capital’s Zhuliany International Airport early on Friday, eyewitnesses have told TASS.

"There was a powerful blast in Zhuliany. A glow of fire is seen in that direction. More blasts were heard in the Solomensky and Goloseyevsky districts. Air defenses are in action," the sources said.

Kiev Mayor Vitaly Klichko said earlier that Kiev’s air defenses were engaging targets above the capital.

Currently, an air raid warning is in place in seven Ukrainian regions. Explosions were also reported in the Ukraine-controlled city of Kherson, the Khmelnitsky Region in western Ukraine and the southern port city of Odessa.
