Over 60 migrants die in shipwreck off Libya

CAIRO, December 17. /TASS/. At least 61 people have died as a result of a shipwreck off the Libyan coast, the country’s division of the International Organization For Migration (IOM) reported on its X (formerly Twitter) social media page.
"61 migrants including women and children drowned following a tragic shipwreck off Libya. According to the survivors, the boat with around 86 people left the Libyan shores from Zwara," the report said.
According to AFP, most passengers of the drowned boat were citizens of Nigeria, Gambia and other African countries. The IOM’s representatives provided medical assistance to the survivors, with 25 people having been taken to a reception center close to Tripoli.
