Negotiations with man who broke into runway in Hamburg airport continue
The airport is still closed, city police said
BERLIN, November 5. /TASS/. The negotiations with the armed man who broke into the runway in the airport of Hamburg in his car without numbers, holding a four-year-old daughter, continue. The airport is closed.
"Updated information as of 8:35 a.m. (7:35 a.m. GMT): negotiations continue, the emergency persists," according to a statement released by the Hamburg police on the X (formerly Twitter) page. It is impossible to enter the airport, the police noted.
An armed man broke into the airport in his car late on Saturday. He parked his car right near a Turkish Airlines passenger jet. All passengers were evacuated, no one was injured.
Not long before the man was noticed by security officials, his wife called the police and warned policemen that her husband was heading to the airport with the child. Bild am Sonntag newspaper said that the man had stolen the child from her mother. The man is presumably 35 years old. The cause for his actions could have been the dispute over the child custody, Hamburg’s police said.
