Over 20 Karabakh residents turn to peacekeepers for medical aid after fuel explosion

MOSCOW, September 26. /TASS/. A total of 23 civilians who suffered burns after the fuel explosion turned to Russian peacekeepers for medical aid, says Pavel Suslov, head of the Russian peacekeeping contingent’s medical team.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the team’s medics from emergency medical aid to residents of Nagorno-Karabakh, who requested it after the fuel explosion near the Stepanakert-Askeran road.
"Since the incident, a total of 23 residents with burns of upper respiratory tract, upper and lower extremities, have contacted the medical team. All necessary medical aid was provided to everyone injured: primary surgical treatment of injuries, anesthetic or intensive care aid. Tactics for further treatment are being determined now," Suslov said.
A modular camp, equipped with modern medical equipment has been deployed at the peacekeeping contingent facilities. It makes it possible to perform 80 x-ray, ultrasound or fluorographic examinations every day. It also includes a dressing unit that can also be used for surgery, and an intensive care module.
The medical team includes medics of various specializations, including military surgeons, anesthesiologists, therapists, epidemiologists and psychologists, the Defense Ministry said.
