Evan Gershkovich, who was arrested in Russia, has no health problems, said Emma Tucker, editor-in-chief of the publication

WASHINGTON, April 5. /TASS/. A Wall Street Journal reporter, Evan Gershkovich, arrested in Russia on espionage charges last week, is in good health and has met his lawyers, editor-in-chief Emma Tucker said in a statement, published on the newspaper’s website.

The meeting with lawyers, hired by the newspaper’s publisher Dow Jones, took place earlier on April 4, she said.

"Evan's health is good, and he is grateful for the outpouring of support from around the world," Tucker said in a message to the newspaper’s staff.

"The legal avenue is one of several avenues we are working to advocate for Evan’s release," she added. "We continue to work with the White House, State Department and relevant US government officials to secure Evan’s release."

According to the Public Relations Center of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB), Evan Gershkovich, "acting at the behest of the American side, collected information constituting a state secret about the activities of an enterprise within Russia’s military-industrial complex." The reporter was detained in the Urals city of Yekaterinburg. FSB investigators opened a criminal case against the US citizen under Article 276 of the Russian Criminal Code ("Espionage"). Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the journalist had been "caught red-handed." On March 30, Moscow’s Lefortovo district court ordered to arrest Gershkovich until May 29.
