Two Sverdlovsk Region residents nabbed for spying for Ukraine — FSB

The couple was paid by Ukrainian intelligence services in exchange for military-technical data that could be used against Russian forces during a special operation, the FSB reports

YEKATERINBURG, April 4. /TASS/. A married couple has been detained by officers of Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) for spying for Ukraine at a defense-sector enterprise in the city of Nizhny Tagil, the press service of the FSB’s Sverdlovsk Region Directorate told TASS on Tuesday.

"The FSB Sverdlovsk Region Directorate has foiled the illegal activities of a married couple involved in committing high treason by means of spying at a regional defense-sector enterprise. A criminal case has been opened on high treason charges (article 275 of the Russian Criminal Code). The court has sanctioned their arrest," the press service said.

According to the FSB, the couple was paid by Ukrainian special services in exchange for data of a military-technical character which could be used against Russian forces during the special military operation. A search of their residence turned up "items used for spying activities." The investigation continues, the press service added.
