MOSCOW, March 15. /TASS/. North Korea said it had fired two medium-range ballistic missiles on Tuesday, South Korea’s Yonhap news agency said on Wednesday.

Previously, Yonhap reported that two short-range ballistic missiles were launched from the Changyon District of the South Hwanghae Province towards the Sea of Japan between 07:41 a.m. and 07:51 a.m. local time (1:41 a.m. - 1.51 a.m. Moscow time). According to the news agency, missile launches from this area have not been registered before.

On Monday, South Korea and the US commenced the Freedom Shield joint exercise. According to the JCS, the joint exercise is defensive in nature and is "based on operation plans on protection of the Republic of Korea from potential aggression from North Korea."

On March 12, DPRK launched two strategic cruise missiles from a submarine. Previously, North Korean Kim Jong-Un presided of the Central Military Commission of the Workers’ Party of Korea, which discussed, among other things, that "military provocations of the US and South Korea are reaching their limits."
