According to the Norfolk Southern representative, about 20 rail cars derailed

TASS, March 5. A freight train of the American transportation company Norfolk Southern went off the rails in Clark County (Ohio), residents are asked not to approach the site of the accident, the local NBC TV channel reported.

"The Clark County Emergency Management Agency is asking residents who live within 1,000 feet (about 305 meters - TASS) of the derailment site to shelter in place," the county said in a message on its Facebook page (a social media site banned in Russia since it is owned by Meta corporation deemed extremist by the Russian authorities).

It pointed out that "hazardous materials were not involved in this incident", noting that firefighters and police officers were working at the scene.

According to the Norfolk Southern representative, about 20 rail cars derailed. There were no casualties. Employees of the company were on their way to the site to clean it up.

According to Reuters, there were power outages in the area of the accident because the poles of the power lines fell down.

About 50 cars of Norfolk Southern's chemical train derailed on February 3 in Ohio. A fire broke out as a result. Some train cars contained hazardous materials, particularly toxic vinyl chloride. On February 25, another Norfolk Southern freight train derailed in North Carolina.
