Five injured in residential building fire in Yekaterinburg

Different versions of the cause of the fire are being considered, including mishandling of fire and an electrical failure

YEKATERINBURG, November 29. /TASS/. Five people were injured in a fire in a multi-story residential building in Yekaterinburg, three of them were hospitalized, the regional Health Ministry press office told TASS Tuesday.

Previously, the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations reported three injured and two killed by the fire.

"The fire on the Chaykovskogo Street resulted in two men hospitalized with burns, their condition is assessed as severe; one woman hospitalized, her condition is satisfactory; two people applied for ambulatory aid," the press office said.

The regional Prosecutor’s Office initiated a probe into the incident.

"Different versions of the cause of the fire are being considered, including mishandling of fire and an electrical failure," the statement said.

The fire occurred on the third floor of a nine-story residential building on November 28. Residents have been evacuated, and a temporary accommodation facility has been prepared. Two bodies were discovered during extinguishing, prompting the probe.
