Oslo shooting possibly a terror attack, Norwegian police says

According to the police, the suspect is a Norwegian citizen of Iranian origin

MOSCOW, June 25. /TASS/. The shooting in a night club in downtown Oslo that resulted in two people killed could have been a terror attack, Norwegian police says, according to AFP.

"The police are investigating the incident as a terror attack," the police said Saturday, according to the news agency.

According to the police, the suspect is a Norwegian citizen of Iranian origin. According to NRK, he was charged with murder, attempted murder and terrorism. An assault rifle and a handgun were reportedly seized from him, the report says.

The police believe that the attacker targeted representatives of the LGBT community. The LGBT parade, planned in Oslo on Saturday, has been cancelled due to the incident, AFP report says.

The shooting took place in the London Pub bar in downtown Oslo. According to NRK, the shooter opened fire, causing panic among the visitors. Two were killed and 10 were heavily injured in the incident, while 11 people sustained light injuries.
