SIMFEROPOL, June 20. /TASS/. Ukraine’s attack on the Black Sea gas rigs could have caused a major man-made catastrophe and hurt Odessa, a Russian senator said on Monday.
Ukraine delivered a strike on drilling rigs belonging to the Crimea-based oil and gas company Chernomorneftegaz, developing a deposit near Odessa. Several workers were wounded, others were reported missing.
Ukraine’s forces "know too well that the field is located just 71 km outside Odessa," Olga Kovitidi, a senator from Crimea, said. Hitting a gas field "was beyond any logic," she said.
Ukraine’s troops have been delivering strikes without stopping to think, Kovitidi said, wondering who Ukraine really meant to hurt - Russia or civilians in Odessa.
