MOSCOW, May 7. /TASS/. Major fires fueled by strong winds, which engulf eight settlements in Russia’s Omsk region, have killed two people, regional Governor Alexander Burkov told the Rossiya-24 TV channel.
"Two people were taken to the hospitals with minor burns, they are in satisfactory condition. Two people were killed," he said.
According to the regional branch of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, the blazes have damaged 115 buildings, including 70 homes. Firefighting activities involve 535 personnel and 134 pieces of equipment. A state of emergency has been declared in the region.
