CHISINAU, May 5. /TASS/. Transnistria’s TSV TV channel reported shots fired near the Kuchurgan checkpoint on the border with Ukraine on Thursday, citing a source in law enforcement.
"The residents of Pervomaysk report shots fired in the vicinity of the Kuchurgan checkpoint. A source in law enforcement reported that indeed indiscriminate shooting was underway on Ukrainian territory, in the vicinity of the Pavlovka settlement," TSV’s Telegram channel reported on Thursday.
The Transnistrian Interior Ministry told a TASS correspondent that this information was being verified. That said, the government agency Novosti of Transnistria suggested that the residents may have been alarmed by the sounds of Ukrainian military drills taking place near the border.
Last week, Transnistria saw several terror attacks. On April 25, the building of the Transnistrian Ministry of State Security came under attack involving hand-held grenade launchers and later on the same day explosions took place at a military airfield near Tiraspol. The following day, two radio antennas were blown up in the Mayak settlement, while on April 27, the premises of military warehouses in the vicinity of the Kolbasna village were attacked with a grenade launcher.
Leader of the unrecognized Transnistria Republic Vadim Krasnoselsky said that the attacks were organized in Ukraine. The authorities declared the highest level of terror threat and bolstered security measures.
