Blasts heard in Western Russia’s Belgorod Region, no casualties - authorities
The village of Krasny Oktyabr is located near the Russian-Ukrainian border
MOSCOW, March 29. /TASS/. Blasts rocked Western Russia’s Belgorod region, bordering Ukraine, on Tuesday evening, no damage or casualties have been reported, Belgorod Region Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov wrote in his Telegram channel.
"Blasts are now heard on the territory of Belgorod and the Belgorod Region. The incident occurred near the village of Krasny Oktyabr. The head of the village is now on the site. He is in a direct contact with me, reporting all information in a live mode. There have been no casualties among locals, and no damage on the territory of the village. All emergency services are working on the site. I will inform you about the cause later," the governor wrote.
He wrote later: "Explosions stopped. According to the village head’s report, there were no casualties among residents of the village. A rescue team of the Russian emergencies ministry has arrived on the site. We will make another circuit of the village to examine houses for possible damage. I will inform you about the cause of the incident once all investigative procedures are over," the governor said.
The village of Krasny Oktyabr is located near the Russian-Ukrainian border.
On March 23, a state of emergency was declared in Zhuravlevka and Nekhoteyevka, two Belgorod Region villages on the border with Ukraine, after a projectile launched from the territory of Ukraine landed in the area. Three people were injured and over 20 houses and vehicles were damaged as a result. In the early hours of March 24, several projectiles exploded in a non-residential area of Zhuravlevka. Later in the day, one person was killed when the village was shelled again.
